First things first ! The food is great - good portions and well priced compared to other Korean restaurants on the strip. However, after waiting a long time for a table( there’s always a line it seems) the service was not great. Not even good. They didn’t ask how the food is, they waited to clear plates , didn’t refill the water, anddddd the kicker , there was a cockroach on the wall beside us. I guess this is the norm for “cheap” food ? They killed the roach but waited for us to notice and ask for help - they saw what was happening in advance and didn’t do anything until they had to lol… kinda gross but that’s Bloor street, right ? The pork bone soup was a smaller portion but the broth was top notch! Shards of bone can be annoying but it’s worth a try. The beef soup was way too sweet for a soup. The spicy squid large portion was the best ! Seafood pancake is really big All that said , we are def going back !
Highly recommend their jjamppong! The broth is packed with deep umami flavor and has that intense, smoky stir-fry aroma, like everything was tossed in a hot wok right before hitting the bowl. Tangsuyuk is also one of my favorites—the sweet and tangy sauce coats tender apple chunks, crisp veggie slices, and perfectly crunchy pieces of pork. That said, the price was fair and the portion was generous, so it’s still a decent choice for a weekday lunch or dinner.
Jin Dal Lae has a special place in my heart. I lived in the neighbourhood during university and it was one of my go to places when I wanted a nice meal to cheer me up. The seafood pancake and sizzling plates are the highlights for me. The staff are also very nice and gave me a small take away of the potato side dish that I mentioned I love. Highly recommend. It is however quite busy and you should expect a wait on weekends.
Excellent price per value food. Ate here for dinner on November 6th, 2024, and didn’t have to wait in line. Not sure if I would wait more than 15 minutes in line to eat here unless I was a student, but it is great home cooked style Korean food. Especially loved their kimchi pancake and bibimbap! Would definitely go back on a day where there is no line.
Pre pandemic prices for Korean food. I hope it stays that way. Good dolsot bibimbop, great tdopoki, but the star is their kimchi pancake. So crispy.
The food is fresh and delicious. I recommend the Bulgogi - it was very flavorful and served with traditional sides like kimchi. Be prepared to wait for a seat, and the environment is nothing fancy, but the food is authentic and worth the wait.
We went for lunch today at 2pm and waited around 20 min for a table for two. It was totally worth the wait. We had the kimchi pancake and the soft tofu stew. The kimchi pancake is the best one I’ve had, and the stew had a perfect spice level. I would definitely return
